Keystone extends its bluegrass repertoire from summer in to winter. The Dercum Center will be hosting the inaugural Keystone Winter Bluegrass Festival at Warren Station Feb. 2-4. The winter fest features three nights of music with headliners Willy Porter, The Haunted Windchimes and Finnders & Youngberg. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Dercum Center for the Arts and Humanities.
The event
The Dercum Center and the Keystone Neighbourhood Company (KNC) have teamed up to create this winter version of the ever-popular summer event, The Keystone Beer & Bluegrass Festival, which is in its 17th year. Pug Ryan's will be vending Summit County's familiar favorite microbrews, and Keystone Lodging has packages available for those who want to make a weekend of it.
The music
A fully loaded lineup all three nights should have bluegrass fans anticipating the event. Thursday, Feb. 2 features The Mealies, Carpe Diem and famed guitarist Willy Porter. Porter's most recent release, “How to Rob A Bank” received rave reviews, and his sound has been touted as captivating and evoking.The Friday night show offers an eclectic trio. Local favorites The Mossgatherers and The Pine Beatles are slotted to open for the young and up-and-coming Haunted Windchimes. The Haunted Windchimes are Colorado home-growns out of Pueblo and have received accolades from The Denver Post and Sing Out! Magazine.
Saturday (Feb. 4) wraps up the event with the classic bluegrass sounds of Steel Pennies and Finnders & Youngberg. Finnders & Youngberg are known for their live performances, combining folk, blues and honky-tonk originals.
