The Summit Prevention Alliance is looking for a new executive director after the departure of previous director Kari Read.
SPA board president Joe Wray said he couldn't comment on the reason behind Read's leaving or rumored financial problems with the organization, but did say the board is taking a new direction going forward.
“The Summit Prevention Alliance is extremely important and valuable to the community, and recognized by others in promoting a healthy lifestyle and healthy choices,” Wray said. “We are rebuilding SPA to continue to be a viable nonprofit in the community promoting a healthy lifestyle.”
One anonymous source close to the organization said financial problems likely played a role behind Read's exit.
Read wouldn't say why she left, but did communicate her respect for the organization via email.
“SPA has contributed so much to the residents and families of this community over the last 25 years. I deeply believe in the work that they do and wish the agency every success in the future. I am confident with strong leadership and the support of the community, SPA will continue to positively impact this community for many years to come.”
