On Friday morning, for approximately 90 minutes, the BreckConnect Gondola experienced mechanical issues that limited uphill-car capacity to four passengers.
Typically, the cars carry eight people, particularly on busy days. Tourists were saying it caused a lengthier line than usual.
Breckenridge Ski Resort officials did not name the mechanical problem, but said it was located at the Peak 7 terminal, through which the gondola passes as it ascends to the base of Peak 8.
“Lift attendants were instructed by lift maintenance to load each gondola cabin with only four guests to keep the gondola running safely and efficiently,” Breckenridge Ski Resort spokeswoman Austyn Williams said. “Lift maintenance promptly fixed this issue Friday morning and returned to normal loading procedures that afternoon.”
