Scott Keys
He began photography as a hobby in grade school. As his favorite subjects progressed from geology and mineralogy to wildflowers and wildlife photos, he collected images, which he now displays. His photos are currently at the Summit County Community and Senior Center near Frisco.
Dreams
I would love to go on another safari to Africa to photograph the felines that I missed on the last safaris. I get a real thrill seeing the carnivores up close and getting good shots that others will enjoy.
One of my goals is to demonstrate the beauty that can be found in the underground world. Minerals can be even more magnificent than flowers because of the combination of many different crystal shapes with brilliant colors, and most of the crystals are everlasting.

Challenges
I found Summit County a very lonely place for an old widower, but now that I have found a lady friend, things are looking up. The scarcity of wildlife here and my creaking joints are my most significant problems now.
My biggest challenge has been finding places to show photographs and videos of these wonderful animals.
Accomplishments
The recent opportunity to display photographs of some of my beautiful mineral specimens at the Summit County Community and Senior Center and libraries is much appreciated.
What I try to convey through art
Brown bears and polar bears have been my favorite subjects to date. I hope photographs of these beautiful animals will move people to protect them from extinction, which is not far away for some of them.
Staying fresh
For more than five years, I have been showing my travel and wildlife videos and photos to the lonely seniors at the assisted living center in Kremmling, and the joy on their faces keeps me looking for new material.
When I'm not doing art
I spend summers biking, hiking and boating and winters skiing and snowshoeing. I also enjoy traveling and have been working, fishing and exploring Alaska almost every year since 1965.
Anything else?
I would very much appreciate loans of travel or educational videos or projectable photos to show to the seniors in Kremmling.
