The town of Silverthorne will host a new event, "Silverthorne Fall Fest," this weekend at the Silverthorne Pavilion by combining its popular Pumpkin Fest with a new event designed to celebrate the traditional fall harvest.

"The town of Silverthorne is excited to offer back-to-back events that celebrate the fall season and are family oriented," said Maggie Butler, Silverthorne Pavilion coordinator. "Together, the two events offer something for all ages and are sure to put a smile on any attendee's face."

The fourth annual Pumpkin Fest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., when the Silverthorne Pavilion is transformed into a pumpkin patch with nearly 1,000 of the bright orange orbs scattered on the lawn.

Families are invited to choose a pumpkin from the lawn and then warm up inside while participating in carving, painting, costume and cookie decorating contests. Games and photographs will also be available.

Prizes for this year's contests will again be provided by Ebert Appraisal and Halloween Treats will be provided by LandTitle. Music will be provided by DJ Wanna Dance.

Pumpkin Patch activities are free to the public.

New this year, the Silverthorne Pavilion will host the Mountain Top Children's Museum's first annual Scarecrow Shenanigans on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to bring "harvest fun" to Silverthorne with a barbecue, live entertainment and shopping at the Harvest Store Market, plus a chance to create your own scarecrow.

Entertainment includes performances by children's songwriter and guitarist Steve Weeks and local songwriter Nancy Cook, as well as story-telling and butter-making demonstrations.
