BRECKENRIDGE - A memorial service has been set in Breckenridge for 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Justin Ellsworth, a former Summit High School student who was killed last month in the line of duty in Iraq.
The service will be 6 p.m. Saturday at the Bergenhoff Restaurant at the base of Peak 8 in Breckenridge.
Tracey Loveberry-Ross, Ellworth's mother who lives in Fairplay, said she encourages members of the public to come pay their respects.
Ellsworth was killed on Nov. 13 by a roadside bomb in Fallujah, while knocking on doors to warn civilians about an upcoming raid.
He grew up in Michigan, but moved to Park County with his mother for his sophomore and junior years of high school.
During that time, Ellsworth attended Summit High School in 2001 and 2002, where he played on the football team and wrestled.
