VAIL - Newt Gingrich, the architect of the "Contract With America" that brought the Republican party to victory in 1994, will be in Vail Friday for a talk about new ideas for the future.
Gingrich will be at the Vilar Center in Beaver Creek at 1 p.m. for the free Volvo for Life Public Forum.
Since leaving the U.S. House of Representatives in 1999, Gingrich has turned his attention to a variety of other projects, including the writing of several books. His newest is titled "Winning the Future: A 21st Century Contract With America," and it forms the basis for his Friday appearance.
The question posed in the book is whether America can survive the dangers of terrorism, meet global economic challenges, reform Social Security and improve our health care system.
Gingrich, who is being mentioned as a possible candidate for president in 2008, says these problems can be solved, and he'll outline a plan during his address. Following the presentation will be a question-and-answer session as well as a book signing.
