Motorcycle poker run comes to Dillon

DILLON - If you like Harleys and playing poker, this ride's for you.

The town of Dillon, Freedom Harley Davidson, A-Basin Ski Area and the Denver hog chapter are joining together this weekend to sponsor the first annual "Ride for Life," a motorcycle poker run to benefit St. Anthonys Hospitals-operated Flight For Life.

The ride will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Jefferson County Stadium at 6th and Kipling in Lakewood. A Flight For Life helicopter will kick the ride off with a flyover at 10 a.m.

Riders will travel west on Interstate 70, travel over Loveland Pass and break at the A-Basin Ski Area. The riders will continue onto Swan Mountain Road through the town of Frisco and enter Dillon from the Dam Road. The Flight For Life helicopter will do another flyover of the riders as they cross the Dam Road.

The town of Dillon will host the riders as they enjoy a poker walk through the Arapahoe Cafe, the Tiki Bar, Wild Bill's Saloon, Pug Ryan's Brewery, Ristorante al Lago and Jersey Boys' Pizza.

The riders will be led by Dillon Mayor Barbara Davis, who will be riding on a bike with Dillon Police Chief John Mackey, and will be escorted by the Dillon police, Colorado State Patrol, Frisco Police, Lakewood Police, and the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

A $30 registration fee includes giveaways at the "Nacho Men" concert Saturday evening at the Lake Dillon Amphitheatre, including a new Harley-Davidson sportster motorcycle.
