KEYSTONE - Keystone chef Ned Archibald has sculpted 2,500 pounds of chocolate into a miniature alpine village, complete with a massive chocolate mountain, a working chocolate gondola, a cascading chocolate waterfall and, new this year, a 6-foot white chocolate Christmas tree with handblown sugar ornaments.

For those trying to keep the holiday pounds off, that's 5.8 million calories. But don't worry, this Chocolate Village is not meant to be eaten.

It took Archibald and his team 10 months of work to create the 10-year anniversary Chocolate Village, which has been on display at the Keystone Lodge lobby since Dec. 16 and can be enjoyed until Jan. 2.

"Ned Archibald is the executive pastry chef for Keystone Resort," said Amy Kemp, from the Keystone Communications Department. "He is incredibly creative and he is always innovating: he is continually coming up with new ideas to surprise the guests and make their mouths water."

Every year, Archibald and his team add to the Chocolate Village. "This year it was the Christmas tree and the presents at the bottom of the tree," said Kemp.

And if you want to take a little bit of the Chocolate Village home, Archibald creates custom chocolate Christmas trees or a chocolate village for you and your family.
