SUMMIT COUNTY - Six illegal aliens from Uzbekistan living in Summit County were arrested Wednesday for overstaying their work visas.
All six legally entered the United States in April 2005 using H-2B immigration visas, which allow non-agricultural workers to enter the U.S. temporarily if they are sponsored by a U.S. company.
The visas were valid through October 2005 and were sponsored by AA Janitorial.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents and the FBI made the arrests at residences and businesses in Silverthorne, Frisco and Breckenridge, said ICE spokesperson Carl Rusnok.
Rusnok said he did not believe that any of the aliens were still working for AA Janitorial, but could not say whether the business would be penalized in the case. An investigation is ongoing, he added.
Rusnok said the Uzbekistanis had not been issued visas in prior years to work and live in Colorado.
Three other Uzbekistan nationals were arrested last week in St. Louis, Mo., two of which had been sponsored by the same Summit County company.
The group is in the custody of immigration officials and is being processed for deportation, according to a press release from U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement.
