WESTMINSTER - A man whose makeshift mannequin failed to fool police monitoring the high-occupancy vehicle lane on Highway 36 was sentenced Thursday to hold a sign alongside the highway reading: "HOV lane not for dummies."
Greg Allen Pringle, 54, must stand alongside the road for four, one-hour sessions that are scheduled to begin on Monday, Westminster Municipal Court Judge John Stipech ordered.
Pringle plans to have the mannequin, which he named Tillie, with him during the sessions.
Pringle was ticketed on Jan. 26 for driving an unauthorized vehicle in a high-occupancy lane, which are open only to buses, motorcycles, vehicles carrying two or more people or hybrid vehicles.
