BRECKENRIDGE — Managing finances can be difficult and intimidating, but with some creative and advanced planning, your financial future can be full of success.
Find out exactly how Friday morning, when financial planner Steve Mertz speaks locally about basic planning, maximizing opportunities and the financial journey in general.
“I just want to make people’s lives as simple as possible,” he said.
It will be the first installment in The Summit Foundation’s three-part breakfast speaker series, “Live Well in the High Country.” Mertz will be speaking from 9-11 a.m. at Taddeo’s Italiano Ristorante at Main Street Station, Breckenridge.
The presentation costs $12 to attend, which includes breakfast and information on Mertz’s dynamic programs and strategies for mastering personal finances.
Mertz promises to deliver no theories — just facts that come from over 20 years of experience as a financial advisor.
“I point people to their options ... sharing successful characteristics that I’ve seen work,” he said.
Focusing not just on conventional ideas, Mertz intertwines the emotional side of finances into the fray. He realizes that good financial planning isn’t all about money.
“People hate to talk about money,” Mertz said. “A lot of financial emotional issues can cloud success.”
He says he wants to get people to face their fears and dream their dreams in regards to their finances.
Mertz has been featured in USA Today, CBS Market Watch and other national newspapers for his unique approach to financial advising.
Using humor to combat the mundane nature of the material, Mertz gets the crowd involved and enjoys himself.
“Bottom line is, it is a game, and when you are playing a game it should be fun,” he said.
Realizing that not everyone in Summit County is a millionaire, the presentation will focus on techniques that can be used by anyone.
He asks for one or two hours to share what he knows, answer questions and hopefully improve the quality of life for listeners.
“The sooner that you get involved and get your arms around it, the better off you are,” Mertz said.
