Open space tree plantings a success

Print Comment
Two of Summit County's Open Space properties are more beautiful today thanks to the efforts of volunteers at two tree planting events. On Thursday, May 10, volunteers planted 260 Limber pine, Douglas fir and Ponderosa pine seedlings at Iron Springs Open Space as part of the county's reforestation efforts in beetle kill areas.

On Saturday, May 12, volunteers planted 300 Narrowleaf cottonwood, Aspen, and Ponderosa pine seedlings at Fourmile Bridge Open Space continuing the county's Blue River restoration work on this property.

Thanks to the following volunteers for their hard work at these events: Aubrey Belanger, Noah Crocker, Thomas Davidson, Brad Eckert, Al & Terry Hershey, Emiko Hull, Sarah Lorch, Susan O'Brien, Jim Shaw, and MJ Wurster.

For more information on upcoming projects and information on other volunteer opportunities and the Adopt-A-Trail Program, please visit our website at www.co.summit.co.us/OpenSpace/volunteer.htm, or contact Claudia Wiley at (970) 668-4092 or via e-mail at claudiaw@co.summit.co.us.
