High-end mountain bikes recovered in statewide sting

SUMMIT COUNTY — A man whose bike was stolen found it on an online auction site, reported it to the Sheriff’s Office and triggered a multi-jurisdictional recovery and three arrests, according to local authorities.
After being tipped off about the online auction, the search began, a Sheriff’s Office release reported.
The report also said:
• On Oct. 9, Summit County Sheriff’s Office detectives, with the assistance of the Frederick Police Department, executed a search warrant in their jurisdiction resulting in the recovery of one high-end mountain bike that was stolen from the Keystone area. This search led to two other search locations.
• On Oct. 11, simultaneous searches were conducted by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Lakewood Police Department resulting in the recovery of six more stolen high-end mountain bikes and bike components from the Keystone area.
• Jarit Bates, 27, of Lakewood, was arrested on three counts of Theft of $1,000 to $20,000, a class 4 felony. He could face a fine ranging from $2,000 to $500,000 and prison time of 1 to 12 years. He is in the Summit County jail. His bond has been set at $7,500.
• Cory Dickinson, 24, of Keystone was arrested for Theft by Receiving and Computer Crime. Both charges are a class 4 felony. Dickinson has bonded out of jail on a $7,500 bond and has a court date of Oct. 23.
• Amanda Omara, 20, of Lakewood, was arrested for Theft by Receiving, a class 4 felony. Omara has bonded out of jail on a $7,500 bond and has a court date of Oct. 23.
The investigation is ongoing.
