Enter your Ullr Parade float by Jan. 7

BRECKENRIDGE — The Ullr Parade is a legend in Breckenridge and 2008 promises crazy floats, tons of fun and big prizes for parade float winners. This year’s Ullr Fest theme is Ride the Ullr Express and the parade is set for Thursday, Jan. 10 at 4:30 p.m. The entry deadline for participating in the parade is Monday, Jan. 7. Those interested in getting those creative juices flowing and building a wacky float can register now at gobreck.com or contact Linsey Kach of the Breckenridge Resort Chamber at (970) 453-5055. This year’s prizes include lodging packages from Grand Timber Lodge, collectible schwag and products from Budweiser and Ullr Scnapps, which will be awarded to the top three judged floats. Now in its 45th year, both visitors and locals adore the mythical Norse god of snow, and every year he rewards the historic town and world-class ski resort with about 300 inches of powder. In return, we throw him the biggest bash of the year.

During Ullr Fest in Breckenridge, Jan. 6-11, don’t be surprised to see horned Viking hats adorning the heads of skiers and snowboarders, Ullympic competitors flinging frying pans for prizes, more than 12,000 Ullr enthusiasts filling the streets for the Ullr Parade and crazy float participants skiing off kickers on Main Street or gliding along town in a hot tub.
