BRECKENRIDGE — On Sunday, catch an episode of “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” in Colorado. The Valdoro Mountain Lodge in Breck hosted the featured Colorado Springs family in Breckenridge (along with the film crew) while their new home was being built.

In the episode, Extreme Makeover Home Edition comes to the aid of a little girl who feels no pain due to a rare and debilitating neurological disease in which extreme heat and cold can kill her. While vacationing in Breckenridge, the family was treated to several activities that accommodated the little girl’s special needs including complementary lodging at Valdoro Mountain Lodge, ice skating at the Stephen C. West Ice Arena, a ropes course with the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, a carriage ride with Mountain Man Carriage Company, swimming at Beaver Run and Grand Timber Lodge, along with family games and rock climbing in the gym at the Breckenridge Recreation Center.

Breck in the New York Times

Recently, the Breckenridge Resort Chamber and the Breckenridge Ski Resort hosted a freelance reporter for the New York Times in Breckenridge. The reporter is writing a feature on Breckenridge for the publication’s weekly “36 hours” column, which covers what to do in Breck in 36 hours. The run date for the article is tentatively set for January 20, 2008 in the Sunday Travel Section.
