SUMMIT COUNTY — No one was trapped in the backcountry avalanche this afternoon on Loveland Pass.
Earlier, there had been a report of an avalanche with a possible entrapment on Loveland pass. Search and Rescue, as well as K9 teams from Arapahoe Basin, Keystone and Loveland ski areas, reported to the scene.
The Loveland Pass area is part of the backcountry and is not part of Arapahoe Basin and Loveland ski areas.
Be cautious and prepared when entering the backcountry. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center is reporting the avalanche danger in the Vail Summit Zone to be CONSDIERABLE on north, northeast east, southeast, and south aspects at all elevations. Human triggered avalanches are probable, and natural avalanches possible. New snow and strong winds have created fresh wind drifts and slabs, and some avalanches are running to the ground. On west and northwest aspects all elevations the danger is MODERATE.
