SUMMIT COUNTY — Just in time for its annual Climate Awareness Day on Sunday, Arapahoe Basin has decided to 100 percent wind power, offsetting all of its energy use through the Renewable Choice program.

“Arapahoe Basin is happy to announce that we have joined the clean energy revolution by offsetting 100 percent of our energy use with renewable energy credits through wind power,” said chief operating officer and general manager Alan Henceroth.

A-Basin also announced that guest services manager Sha Miklas will become the area’s environmental program manager.

In that position, Miklas is responsible for evaluating and considering current environmental efforts, recycling programs and the development and implementation of new programs that result in the overall goal of reducing Arapahoe Basin’s carbon footprint.

Sunday’s climate awareness day is set aside for A-Basin and its partners to inform guests about various environmental initiatives.

Activities include a poker run with great prizes, a question-and-answer session with the High Country Conservation Center and an environmental impact presentation about the The Montezuma Bowl Expansion by Hencroth.

Ski Green tags and Climate Club memberships will be available for purchase at the ticket windows and at the A-Basin tent in the base area.
