FRISCO — A visit to the eastern shore of Hudson Bay in Canada inspired former Summit County resident Ronald Dull’s latest book, “Go With.”

Dull explained the title is a colloquialism used in the north country of places like Wisconsin and Minnesota to mean “travel with somebody on a journey — sometimes a journey of unknown destination, much like life,” the author said.

In “Go With,” two fathers take their growing-out-of-control teenage sons on a hunting trip. There with the Inuits, the men learn about a different philosophy of community.
“It’s not the great ‘I’ all the time — what’s in it for me,” Dull said. “It’s — what’s in it for the community.”

Dull, who now lives in Florida, lived in Summit for 13 years, all while commuting back and forth to Florida as the state pilot.

Dull’s first book, “Mount Bellew: A Season of Hope,” is about a local’s ski resort that becomes popular.

“He’s running a full-fledged ski resort, needs to hire locals to run it, and finds they bring more problems than they’re worth,” Dull said of the protagonist.

Dull said he writes only for hobby, but is currently on his third book to be published. Self-publishing with Wheatmark, he said he hopes to give the books a serious marketing push when he retires. For now, he’s writing between shifts.

Dull will be at The Next Page in Frisco on Saturday signing copies of “Go With.”
