Arthur Burnett, 78, passes away

Arthur W. Burnett, 78, of Denver died peacefully Sunday, March 2, while hospitalized at Porter Hospital with complications due to a long illness.

Born to Edward (Tobe) and Laura Burnett on Nov. 30, 1929, in Buffalo, Wyo., Art delighted in the love of his wife, family, friends, the outdoors and all things mechanical.

After completing high school in Buffalo, Art attained his Aircraft and Powerplant license at Cal-Aerotech in Glendale, Calif. He returned to Denver to work for Continental Airlines. The United States Air Force called and he served as an aircraft mechanic in Okinawa during the Korean conflict. While skiing the slopes of Winter Park he met Lois Pierson, and they were married on Oct. 10, 1953, in Denver. His 45-year professional career included Continental Airlines, World Airways, and Frontier Airlines as a Mechanic, Flight Engineer, and Pilot, culminating with 20 years as an Instructor at Emily Griffith Aircraft and Engine School.

In 1985 he earned his Bachelor of Education from Colorado State University.
Art was honored as a 50-year member of Masonic Anchor Lodge #7 in Buffalo, WY and was a long time member of the Centennial Airport Lions Club. His most recent great pleasure was in his hobby of wood turning.

He is survived by his wife Lois, and children: son Dan and his wife Patti and their daughters Bethany and Rachel of Frisco; daughter Laura and her husband Marty Poirier of San Diego, Calif.

His deep love and keen wit will be sorely missed.

He was an enthusiastic volunteer thriving on the goals and camaraderie.
