Colorado skier visits rebound in January, February

Print Comment
DENVER — A ski industry group says deep snow and international visitors helped boost Colorado resort business in January and February after a disappointing early season.

Colorado Ski Country USA said Monday its 26 member resorts had more than 5.5 million visitors in January and February, up 6.7 percent over the same period last year.

From October through December, skier visits were down 12.5 percent from the year before. Not much snow fell in November, and heavy storms in December kept many skiers from reaching the slopes.

The ski group says the weak dollar and an international marketing campaign have helped attract skiers from other countries.

A skier visit is one person skiing or snowboarding on one day.
