BRECKENRIDGE Artists Michael Charnes and Elizabeth Raybee from Potter Valley, Calif., are the visiting artists at Breckenridges Tin Shop through April 11.
Charnes is a singer-songwriter and guitar player who writes and performs original songs and also revives forgotten gems from genres including Celtic, fiddles, King Crimson, Bob Dylan, Balkan rhythms and Renaissance ballads. Charnes also teaches music, drama, dance, and special education at a public school.
Elizabeth Raybee is an internationally recognized mosaic artist and teacher.
Schooled as a painter and printmaker at the Kansas City Art Institute, she moved to San Francisco where she taught painting, drawing, batik, business for visual artists and mosaics at the Ft. Mason Art Center, San Francisco City College and through her studio.
Mosaic has been her primary medium since 1988. After 20 years of breaking tile, she also began making some in 2000. Raybee has been a guest lecturer and visiting artist for groups like the San Francisco Open Studios, Oregon College of Art and Craft, the Sanchez Art Center and the University of Sarawak in Malaysia.
Her work has been exhibited in places such as the San Francisco Crafts Museum, the National Jewish Museum in D.C. and the Grace Hudson Museum in Ukiah, Calif.
The artists have open studio hours from noon to 5 p.m. Today, April 4, 5 and 11 Raybee will be hosting workshops to create a public mosaic mural from noon to 5 p.m. Charnes will host a singing round workshop on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and a free concert on April 4 from 7-9 p.m.
The Tin Shop is located at 117 E. Washington Ave.
