DENVER - A man arrested in Denver last December for a crime he did not commit has been awarded $30,000 to settle a lawsuit against the city.
Bradley Braxton claimed he had been arrested on a sexual assault charge in a case for which the prime suspect was white and had a different name.
Braxton was held in jail for nine days without ever appearing before a judge.
He later filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Denver, saying authorities should have known he was not the suspect being sought.
The Denver City Council voted Tuesday to award Braxton the $30,000 payment.
