FRISCO - After adopting new sustainability codes in March, town officials will help local builders get up to speed with a lunchtime speaker series starting early May.
"Every building constructed that's not energy efficient is a lost opportunity," said town manager Michael Penny.
The first class (May 1, noon to 1 p.m.) will explain the new permitting process and explain how to reuse old materials instead of disposing them, whenever possible.
The second class (May 8, noon to 1 p.m.), with a focus on how to comply with Frisco's newly adopted sustainable building codes and how to receive refunds of plan review fees.
The third class (May 22, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) will delve into the LEED and Green Globes programs as ways to meet Frisco's new commercial, mixed-use, and multi-family requirements.
All three classes in the "Construction 2008: Lunchtime Series" will be held in the Council Chambers at Frisco Town Hall. RSVPs are appreciated, as a light lunch will be provided at each class. For more information, or to RSVP to one or all of the lunches, please contact Janine Snyder, Building Official at (970) 668-9139 or
