ARAPAHOE BASIN - Team Summit's Spring freestyle camps begin this weekend at Arapahoe Basin.

U.S. Ski Team members Pat Deneen (FIS World Cup rookie of the year) and Joe Discoe will join local coaches for daily sessions that will run May 3-11.

"We're psyched to be able to bring in these U.S. Team skiers, so that (participants) can learn from the very best," TS freestyle coach John Dowling said. "And the snow conditions are the best we've seen in many years."

Each day will begin at 9 a.m. in the A-Frame, where participants will go over video and the instructors' daily plan. Primary on-hill concepts that will be covered include balance, turn concepts, mobility and timing. Attention will also be devoted to freestyle tactics and how to prepare for competitions.

Participants should bring a lunch and snacks, water or sport drink, sunglasses and goggles, as well as both winter and spring clothing.

The camp will culminate on May 11 with a judged competition.

To register for the camp, which costs $50 per day and requires a USSA license, email Dowling at dardog321@aol.com.
