SUMMIT COUNTY — The Summit County Sheriff’s Office, along with Silverthorne and Breckenridge police departments, arrested Joshua John Rupnow, 25, of Breckenridge, in connection with multiple local burglaries.

A former employee of two of the businesses that were burglarized, Rupnow fit the description of the perpetrator described by witnesses and caught on surveillance cameras.

A search warrant conducted at Rupnow’s residence found clothing matching that on the surveillance tape as well as numerous burglary tools.

While being interrogated by investigators, Rupnow admitted to an attempted robbery at the Farmer’s Korner Gas Station and also confessed to the burglaries at the La Quinta Inn in Silverthorne and the Skiers Edge Condominiums in Breckenridge.

Rupnow was arrested on felony charges of aggravated robbery, first degree burglary, 2nd degree burglary and 3rd degree burglary. He was also charged with misdemeanor menacing, theft, criminal mischief and criminal attempt.

He was released from the Summit County Jail after posting a bond of $25,000.
