Print Comment
The Silverthorne Storm gymnastics team participated in its first meet of the season recently at Airborne Gymnastics Academy in Longmont.

The Storm's girls team is comprised of 32 gymnasts from Summit County. The team competes in the Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics, which is a recreational league with teams from all over the state.

Everyone made at least one trip to the award stand (ribbons were given to the top six in each age group and division). The local team ended up with 34 first-place ribbons, seven or which were in the all around (AA).

Most of the Storm girls got at least one regional qualifying score, according to coach Ben Way.

Other highlights were provided by Madison Hunt-Snyder, who posted the highest score for the Storm with a 9.3 on the vault. Hunt-Snyder placed first on three events. Kaylin Lilly won the AA and two other events in a strongly contested field.

The Sharr sisters, Molly and Hope, both dominated their age groups taking nine out of 10 first-place spots.
