ESTES PARK — Rocky Mountain National Park officials say at least three people have been struck by lightning near a remote lake but are hiking back to a trailhead.

Park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson says that initial reports that a fourth person may have been hit in the Tuesday afternoon strike were wrong.

Patterson says the three confirmed victims, two males and a female, were hit at 12:20 p.m. near Mills Lake.

The park is about 50 miles northwest of Denver.
