Make the Dam Road a recreational area

Let’s face it. It will never be the same after 9/11 and the people should be concerned about our drinking water. If the Dam Road is to close permanently for security concerns, I suggest an alternate road to access Dillon/Silverthorne be investigated and then paid for by tax dollars we already pay and turn the two lane Dam Road into a pedestrian, bike, cross country ski, non-motorized path.

You may say Dam Road a recreational road? Well, why not? Changes are hard and people generally do not take kindly to them. I live in the Town of Frisco full-time year-round. You would not believe the near-misses between families riding their bikes along Dam Road and constantly speeding autos/commercial trucks I have witnessed.

I have personally appeared before Frisco Town Council to plead with them to reduce the speed limit to a consistent 30 mph to the end of Frisco Town limits for safety sake, to no avail. A 30 mph limit is currently posted at both the Dillon end and Frisco end of Dam road. Try crossing Dam road with little kids in tow.

Most vehicles do 55-plus mph coming around blind spots in the road. Dam road as a recreational road — I say yes.
