CDOT study needed for additional traffic

The intersection of highways 6 and 9 and Interstate 70 now has an additional 8,500 vehicles, overloading an intersection that I believe is the third busiest along the I-70 corridor in the state of Colorado.

In order to accommodate this heavier flow of traffic between Silverthorne and Frisco, a double left-hand turn for traffic coming down Highway 6 will be necessary.

It may require replacing this bridge which not only spans Highway 6, but also the Blue River as well as two access roads. That will not be cheap.

Widening the round-about at the Frisco I-70 interchange for two lanes of traffic will also be necessary. That project will more than likely require moving I-70 to the south and replacing that bridge as well.

Simply stated, the sooner we can get CDOT to study traffic flow and put a price tag together for these necessary changes, the sooner we can get traffic flowing again. Or maybe the Governor of our fine state could just sit down and talk with Denver’s mayor to discuss the effect this road closure is having on this corridor, and hand him a bill for these necessary improvements.
