BOEC receives donation from Summit County motorcyclists

ABATE (A Brotherhood Active Towards Education) of Colorado District 14 of Summit County held its Annual “7 Peak’s Poker Ride and Campout” on July 26-27.

The Ride raised about $1,200 for the nonprofit Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC). A poker run is a ride where we have stops along the way, at each stop there is a draw for cards, during the ride we had seven stops and you try to build the highest or lowest poker hand over the ride.

The 7 Peaks Ride is one of several fund raisers put on by the motorcyclists of Summit County. This ride started in Keystone at the Haywood Café on Saturday the 26th and went over Loveland Pass, Berthoud Pass, Willow Pass and Muddy Pass with four stops along the way then for the overnight camp-out on a ranch just outside of Kremmling. Dinner was served for the 50 riders with a party, campfire, drawings, prizes and music into the night. Sunday the 27 started off early with coffee and Breakfast for the riders at 7 a.m. The riders started the Sunday leg at about 9:30 a.m. road over Gore Pass, Tennessee Pass and Fremont Pass with three stops along the way and ended up back at the Haywood Café in Keystone for the awards and prizes. The weekend went very well and was a successful fund raising ride.

On Aug. 8 Charlie Hatch of ABATE District 14 delivered a check and a video projector to Bruce Fitch, executive director, and Marci Sloan, development director of the BOEC.
