Scary accident prompts thanks

Print Comment
Late in the afternoon on Saturday, July 12, I and my bicycle went over a steep 15-foot embankment at the edge of my driveway near Breckenridge.

n response to my family’s frantic 911 call, Summit County Ambulance's superb team arrived shortly and got me to St. Anthony’s with consummate care; sorry, but at that moment I didn’t get their names!

Over the next week, I received truly extraordinary kindness and expert professional care from everyone involved in my case. Dr. Marc Doucette, thanks for an elegant resewing of my badly torn lip; Dr. Peter Janes, orthopedic wizard and titanium artist, rebuilt my severely broken left arm. Nurses Karen, JJ, Sara, lovely Kristina Hanson, and others were gentle and tremendously kind at all hours of the day and night. And the Avalanche Physical Therapy team, especially Kim Eyetel — wow! Though all these folks were “just doing their jobs,” their 1-on-1 sensitivity and care was more than any patient could hope for. My accident was a very scary and sobering experience, but I will never forget these remarkable Summit County medical professionals.
