BBQ at the Summit winners announced

Dillon — Carcass Cookers of Pueblo was named the grand champion and 4 Legs Up of Great Bend, Kans., took second at the 13th annual barbecue event held in Dillon on the Aug. 8-9.

More than 22,000 people walked the winding streets of downtown Dillon enjoying the sites, sounds, smells and tastes of 65 teams, including one team from England, all competing for a variety of awards at the event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Summit County.

Carcass Cookers was awarded $2,500 in cash, a $2,300 Horizon trailer grill donated by Ruff’s BBQ Shoppe of Golden and the championship belt buckle.

The Kansas team took home $1,500 in cash and the reserve grand championship belt buckle.

Golden Toad of Littleton captured first place for the people’s choice award.
