Mountain 10s today in Breck

Print Comment
Starting at 9:30 a.m. today, the Gentlemen of the Blue Goose rugby club will be hosting the annual Mountain 10’s Rugby Tournament at Kingdom Park.

With an 8-7 record, the Goose have a chance to finish the season above .500, something that no Breck team has done in
recent years.

The tournament consists of eight teams. Steamboat Springs and Crested Butte both will field one team, while the Glendale Raptors, Denver Highlanders and the Goose will each have two.

The eight teams will be separated into two, four-team divisions. The winner of each division will play for the championship. The second-place teams on each side will duke it out for third.

All games will consist of 15-minute halves in pool play, while adhering to regular rugby rules.

The Goose will play their final games of what has been a solid season under head coach Peter Clarke. Breck has beaten every team in the Mountain League at least once, including their first win over Vail in 12 years.

The Goose were 2-2 at their home pitch in Kingdom Park, with wins over Steamboat and Vail.

With a solid showing this weekend, the Goose can climb to 10 wins on the year.

The championship game of the Mountain 10s will wrap up around 5 p.m., Clarke
said.

There will be concessions served all day for spectators at the field.
