SugarSync nearly too good to be true

Online Tool of the Week: SugarSync

Let’s say I told you that I knew of a tool that provided automatic online backups, easy file sharing with friends/family/co-works, and the syncing of files across multiple computers.

And then let’s say I told you that the tool was really cheap.

Would you believe me? I hope so.

If you didn’t, I actually might feel a little bit sad, and I’d have to wonder why you felt so distrustful of me.

Regardless, the online tool I just described is indeed for real, available to the public, and offered at a price that initially had me thinking “no way.”

The tool is called SugarSync and it allows people just like you and me to instantly sync files and folders across multiple computers — no matter where in the world the computers are.

Additionally, it continuously backs up your files and photos online, meaning you can say bye-bye to external hard drives and data backup scheduling hassles.

SugarSync can even sync with your iPhone.

SugarSync allows you to take a test drive for 45 days for free; you’re not even required to provide your credit card information when you sign up.

Plans start at an incredibly low $2.49/month (10GB) and go up to $24.99/month (250GB). So go ahead and share massive files across different computers.

Go ahead and stop worrying about whether your data is backed up or not.

Go ahead and sync your home, office, and laptop computers with ease. Learn more at www.sugarsync.com.

(Thanks so much to my dear neighbor Steve for giving me the heads up on this fantastic online tool.)

Site of the Week: AllMyFaves.com

I’m regularly asked “How do you know about so many sites?” and I regularly answer that it’s quite easy when a good chunk of your work life is spent browsing the web.

An easy way to expand your awareness of quality sites without having to spend hours online each day is to set www.allmyfaves.com as one of your favorites (bookmarks if you use Firefox).

AllMyFaves.com organizes hundreds of the web’s top sites into categories (the tabs across the top) as well as subcategories (the text running down the far left column).

Arrange the logos on the page by popularity or in alphabetical order.

Click “Make AllMyFaves your homepage” if you’d like the site to show up automatically each time you go online.

Take a look at the hand-picked “weekly faves” sites, updated each Monday by the AllMyFaves.com staff.

Go on, do a bit of exploring. Click the logos of websites you’ve never visited — or even better, click the logos of websites you’ve never heard of.

Have fun while you continually learn more about what the web has to offer.
