Louis H. Gawart
Louis H. Gawart, Jr., 81, passed on Sept. 7 in Pueblo.
He was born March 9, 1927, in Otoe, Neb., the oldest child of Elsie (Gillin) and Louis H. Gawart, Sr.
Gawart married Helen Weston on May 29, 1945, in Seneca, Kans.
In addition to Nebraska, he lived in Iowa, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Pennsylvania. Most of his adult life was spent in Silverthorne; Casper, Wyo.; and Bridgeport, Neb.
Gawart was happiest creating with wood and was a homebuilder and cabinetmaker. He also was a truck driver and owned and operated Summit Disposal in Summit County from 1962 to 1972.
Gawart served in the 32nd Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Casper American Legion and was a master mason.
Louis is survived by, and will be greatly missed by his three sons and three daughters and their families, Gary and Diane Gawart, St. Cloud, Minn.; Michael and Sharon Gawart, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Robert and Jane Gawart, Granbury, Texas;
DeAnna and Richard Waterman, Denver; Lisa and Roger Brummond, Sr., Glenrock, Wyo.; and Kathy Gilbertson, Pueblo; his 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ila Sparks, Fort Worth, Texas.
His parents, Elsie and Louis, Sr.; his wife, Helen; his brother, Adolph Earl; and a sister, Ann Kipper, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Monday at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, Neb.
Burial was at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City. The Nebraska Army National Guard funeral honors detail provided military honors.
