Chix with Stix sends a warm thank you

Print Comment
For many years, the Outlets at Silverthorne has contributed generously to the annual Blue River Festival golf/trout tournament in support of protecting and enhancing our magnificent gold-medal Blue River.

For the third consecutive year, Chix with Stix, the only all-female team, was warmly sponsored and supported by the Outlets at Silverthorne. And for the third consecutive year, we were warmly treated by all of the competing teams of men, who are including more women on their teams every year.

Thanks to Sherriff John Minor, captain of team “Minor Threat,” for the warm Sunday afternoon hug accompanied by: “I am soooooo proud of you girls.” Thanks to the women who said we’ve encouraged them by example to play on the male teams this year and to consider putting forward their own “chix” teams in a future tournament. Thanks to the winning team “Hackle Hackers,” who presented me with a beautiful Raven wind jacket purchased with their winning pro-shop gift certificate.

On behalf of myself and three additional awesome women — Kelsey Gray, Kay Raso and Vickie Sanborn — a big thank you for the acceptance, equal treatment, encouragement and challenge offered by all of the fun-loving yet competitive teams … mostly men and increasing numbers of women. And to the Town of Silverthorne, thanks for creating a great way to support our gold-medal asset!
