Since the liberal media is loath to acknowledge when socialism fails, most likely you haven’t heard that after seven months, Hawaii cancelled universal healthcare for children. Apparently, the enlightened ones who want to solve all of society’s inequities on our dime can’t anticipate even the most basic human response.

“People who were already able to afford health care began to stop paying for it so they could get it for free,” said Dr. Kenny Fink, the administrator for Med-QUEST at the Department of Human Services. “I don’t believe that was the intent of the program.”

In other news, the Obamedia, jealously protective of its role as purveyor of propaganda for the presidential campaign of the Annointed One, acted to attack a humble plumber for his question in the hopes that the public might not notice the answer of The One had a distinct Marxist ring to it: “It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you — that they get a chance for success. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” Or, in the words of Karl Marx, “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

The problem is, as liberals quietly brush away the rubble of failure after failure of enlightened intentions, socialism only works in theory. Human nature is a belligerent opponent of utopia. If Obama were able to implement his Marxist plan to “spread the wealth,” as time went on, he would find fewer to take from and more to give to. This is about the time that Marxist governments begin starving their people to death.
