COLORADO SPRINGS — A report by the Colorado Health Foundation says the state’s obesity rate has doubled since 1995.

The report, released last week, says if current trends continue, two out of three Coloradans will be overweight or obese in the next eight years.

A survey by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released in July ranked Colorado as the least obese state, with about 19 percent fitting that category.

But the Health Foundation report says obesity-related illnesses cost the state $874 million annually.
