Borders in Dillon will partner with The Summit Authority, which includes the seven fire houses under its auspices, to promote literacy and give books to children in need throughout the community by hosting a month long book and toy drive.
Customers who shop in the Dillon store will have the opportunity to purchase new childrens and young adult books or to donate small plush gifts to benefit The Summit County Fire Authority and the children they serve. To assist customers in selecting their donations, Borders will provide displays of childrens books and plush gifts for customers to choose from. The book drive is set to end on Dec. 13.
The donations will be distributed and carried on each engine in the Summit Fire Authoritys fleet, including those from Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue, Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District and Copper Mountain Fire Department.
