Bill Juergensmeier passed away on Saturday after a yearlong battle with a rare form of melanoma.
Juergensmeier was born on Sept. 3, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating from The Ohio State University with a degree in electrical engineering, he worked for the General Electric Glass plant in Logan, Ohio, for 37 years as an electrical and environmental engineer.
He married Susan Swenson in 1989. Following retirement in 1998, The couple moved to Summit Country.
In the 10 years that Juergensmeier lived in Summit County, he was known for his involvement in activities throughout the community. He was recognized as the Partner of the Year three times by the Summit County Rotary Club for his extensive volunteer work on service projects and fundraisers. He was an ambassador at Copper Mountain for three years. He volunteered for special events in Keystone, Frisco and Dillon, plus the X-Games in Aspen. He was a member of the Summit Chamber. He worked at the Smith and Hawkin Store in Silverthorne for the past several years. Juergensmeier loved the outdoors — skiing, hiking, and biking.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, plus his sister, Chris Taylor, two nieces and their families, all from Loveland, and his beloved cat, Annie.
Services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church in Dillon. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
