Congrats to Cindy and Wayne Spaulding’s Boatyard Pizzeria and Grill for marking 12 years in Frisco. Before opening here they had the Blue River Bistro in Breck.
Their veteran manager of 17 years, Bob Fuertinger, has taken a sales position with Shamrock Foods. He is replaced by Ron Hefner, who hails from Wisconsin.
Cindy’s parents, Henry and Erika Stelling of Twain Harte, Calif., were here for a two-week visit. Wayne is also a wooden boat restorer with Bill Tordorf and they have Wonderful Woodies.
A few of those diners seen there recently include Rick and Judi Amico, Kathleen Kennedy, Marybeth Loesch and Paul Phillips; Duke Pitts of Envision Enterprises joining Creekside Communities’ Michael Hilbert and lovely Ashley Thompson; Keystone Resort Property Management’s striking Sara C. Boyd; Dwight and Mary Jo George, Tony Seibert, and Bruce and Donna Miles.

In our “It’s a real shame department,” the good people over at Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church in Dillon did not make their annual Christmastime work project trek to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, where they would have again built homes for the less fortunate.
Increasing violence along the border are cited as the reason the church, now headed by Rev. Joe Holub and wife Marcia and J. Kent and Mary Nan McHose, who lead the congregation, will look elsewhere.

We offer congrats to Leo (Hank Cheese) Larkin of Windsor, Calif., and wife Cathi and boys Jake and Conor, on the Dec. 19 graduation of Leo from University of San Francisco.
Leo is the public works supervisor for the nearby the town of Healdsburg, in Sonoma County. He had started working on that BS degree at Colorado Mountain College while an employee of the Town of Frisco.
The Hankster and Jon (Phyl MyCraken) Whitfield were famous for their sports pages back in the ‘90s, covering everything from coed volleyball leagues, softball games, to those of the Broncos and the then-brand new Colorado Rockies.

In a “rest of the story,” it was Dr. Larry Gaul, a local heart specialist who provided that life-saving shot for world famous orthopedic surgeon Richard Steadman, who has clinics in Vail and Frisco.
In early December, Steadman was suffering from a blood clot in his lungs and his wife called 911.
