In the lobby at the Frisco Holiday Inn. Major renovations are on top with new owners.
FRISCO The Holiday Inn on the corner of Summit Boulevard and Interstate 70 in Frisco was recently purchased to the tune of $6 million, and the new owners are getting right to work updating the hotels appearance.
We plan on doing a lot of remodeling on both the inside and the outside, new owner Slawek Pietraszek said. We really want to restore it so it has the same appeal it first did when it opened in the 1970s.
Pietraszek and his brother Adam, co-owners of Colorado Springs-based company New Vision Hotels LLC, own nine other hotels in Colorado, and the duo is currently in the construction phase of a new Cambria Suites hotel outside the Denver International Airport.
We like to come up skiing, and we had always noticed the hotel had a great location and great visibility, Pietraszek said. So, when it came up for sale we decided to buy it and make some changes.
Built in 1979, the hotel has undergone several remodels, and Pietraszek is looking to make his mark on the building by giving the interior a more modern and contemporary feel.
We dont want to go with the whole log cabin, mountain feel, Pietraszek said. Were looking to appeal to a younger, more diverse crowd. People from all over the world come to ski, and we want the hotel to be classy and beautiful.
Changes to the exterior will include a new, more direct entrance to the hotel in front of the KFC restaurant, new roof angles and some outside stone work.
The 216-room hotel will also get new windows, heating units and bathroom fixtures.
The Frisco Holiday Inns in-house restaurant, Peak One Bistro, will also get a dramatic make-over, both in the interior and on the menu. As of right now, the Bistros wall-to-wall wood paneled decor doesnt quite jive with Pietraszeks vision.
Were planning on completely gutting the restaurant, Pietraszek said. One of our chefs from Fort Collins will be coming in to update the menu in an effort to create a more unique dining experience.
Pietraszek hopes to have all the remodeling done within the next year, and he plans to stick with the motto that has helped both him and his brother become successful hotel owners.
Customer service is our number one thing, Pietraszek said. We want to create an environment where people want to come back year after year for their ski trip.
