Becky Sherstad, Cate Houdek, Leigh Girvin and Valeria Giovanini.Continental Divide Land Trust and Summit County Open Space promoted this program with help from Frisco Elementary School students May 28 and volunteers including the four gals above on Friday,
May 29. We hope to see this area beautiful and green again in the future after being decimated by the
mountain pine beetle.
Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the worlds only daily column thats shaking like a wet dog, wringing out its clothes, trying to dry off the shoes and generally just attempting as best we can to cope with all this Seattle-esque weather. Noah himself would be looking around our fair county now, shaking his head saying Dang! Yall have some rainy weather around here. Aint seen nothin like it!
Were not sure why Noah has a country accent here, but why not? Seems like the kind of guy who, with all that animal herding, would have a folksy tone like that.
But rain aside, we still like living here. And were pretty confident that, at some point, the real summer will begin and well have those clear mornings with rain only for a little while in the afternoon. The way it was meant to be.

Its almost lunchtime as we write, and were hungry, so we were thinking about two local restaurants that have come on our radar lately. The first is El Toreo, which is located on the west end of Main Street in Frisco. As the name implies, its a Mexican restaurant named after a bull, which is neither here nor there. The point is we had someone write a letter a week or two ago saying what a great place this is, and since we hadnt ever been since it became El Toreo (it was something else previously and, we think, something else before that), we popped in there for lunch.
It was great! Good food and also very reasonable lunch menu prices like $7.95 for a combo that comes with all kinds of stuff. We suggest you check it out. Tell them Summit Up sent you and they may give you a discount or a blank look were not sure. Probably a discount. But we cant guaranty it!
The second restaurant is Vinnys, also in Frisco. Someone from Vinnys popped in the Summit Up Central Corporate Suites the other day and gave us their new lunch menu, which has all kinds of good stuff on it in addition to bike delivery in Frisco. And this delivery, were told, is powered by sausage rigatoni and butter sauce, which we believe yields a pretty low carbon footprint. Check out what theyve got by calling 668-0340 or popping by at Rainbow Court in Frisco.

Thats it for today folks. Stay dry! Unless youre kayaking or rafting or fishing or singin in the rain.
