The Pokrandts, Jim and Rachel, formerly of Summit County, were back recently. Jim used to own the Ten Mile Times and later was editor of the Summit Daily News, before being named the communication specialist for the Colorado River Water Conservation District, headquartered in Glenwood Springs.

Jim reports daughter Billie graduated from Glenwood Springs High School and is headed to Portland (Oregon) State University in September. She attended Summit Middle School and one year of SHS.

Rachel taught in the school system here and was a staffer at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge.

“I was in town to work on a follow up to a very successful Water Camp the Colorado River District held in May with the Keystone Science School. We are on track to do it again next year. The Keystone Science School is a tremendous asset of Summit County,” his email says. “Rachel carpooled with me so that she could meet with her friend and business partner, Brooke Carson of Montezuma. Both work for the Boston nonprofit, Beyond Benign, in the development of educational programs about green chemistry.”
