It's nice living in a mountain region like Summit County, where the residents are filling their lives with fun times — like Affinity Wealth Management Group's Aleda Kresge and daughter Robyn offering a report on their recent trip to the Orient:
“We are just back from almost three weeks in China, checking out Robyn's homeland. Attached is a picture of the Giant Panda baby Robyn was able to cuddle. This little fella is eight months old and is enjoying an apple. We toured seven cities, stopping to see the Terra Cotta Soldiers, Great Wall and the scenic Guilin Mountains among other ancient sites. We traveled with part of our original group that we went to China with in 1995 when we brought the kids home. It was a great trip.”
Robyn will be a sophomore at Summit High this fall. She is active in Nordic racing, soccer and rugby.

Former Summiteer Dan Pitner, now of Durango, is spotted frequently out walking about here while he recoups from shoulder surgery.
He works for Xcel and still owns that red AMX Javelin, a couple Alfa Romeos, and his first car: an English Triumph.

Mountain Log Homes of Colorado's Karen and Brian Wray enjoyed a week at Fitness Ridge Resort & Spa in Utah. Karen's reaction: “Ahhhhhhhh.”

ReMAX Realtor Sharon Siler rode the annual Ride the Rockies.
Here's Sharon's report:
There were 2,000 plus riders — the oldest 83 and the youngest 7. The route was a 6-day 380-mile loop: Glenwood Springs over McClure Pass to Hotchkiss, from there to Gunnnison, then over Monarch Pass to Salida; fourth day to Leadville; fifth day over Independence Pass to Aspen; and the last day back to Glenwood.
“Don't forget to mention that after only one attempt I won a coveted RTR tour T-shirt by rolling an orange,” she says.

Up to enjoy Summit County and look at real estate were Castle Rock-ers Greg and Jeanne Batte and the dog BoBo.
Greg, a former yacht brokerage owner on Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, is an author and photographer, working under the nom de plume of G. Daniel Pernell. His works: “Cardinal Culpability” and “Wasteland 2045AD: How the West was Lost.”
Greg's website is www.gdanielpernell.com
Jeanne is a veteran of running seven marathons and works as an ICU registered nurse.

Here recently to visit the Alex and Jen Miller family of Mountain Pines were The Millers of Pahrump, Nev., Pat and Eileen.
As they were here, Pat and Eileen are very active in BPOE (Elks) even farther out west.

Visiting the U.S. again were Kaspar and Jacqueline Keiser of Hergiswil, Switzerland. Kaspar works as the technical director for Montana Sport International, located in Stans — just around a “corner” of Lake Lucerne.
In Frisco, they marked their 18th wedding anniversary with a stay at the Galena Street Mountain Inn, owned by Scott Downen and Al Schiebe, and managed by Isabella Tara Rochon and her Standard Poodle "Sage," Valerie Long-Connelly, and Amy McGrath.
The Keisers visited Precision Ski and Golf's Jim Deines and Linda Simon, who had just come back from Anna Maria Island, Fla.

Friscoites Steve and Jan Cornwell, sailing part-time for the last two plus years aboard “Mystique,” their Landfall 43, have returned from the Caribbean with good news:
“Our son Andy, raised in Boulder, married Jessica McClellan from Cleveland on a remote beach on Great Exuma. Andy's an experienced sailor and they took the boat on a two-week honeymoon after we left.”
Congrats to all.

On a sad note, Don Huffman, 72, passed away June 13 in his sleep, according to his daughter, Dee Dee, of Grand Junction, who called Claudia and Bob Alster, also of GJ and Frisco.
“We'll always have wonderful loving memories of him: his shiny black Datsun 280Z, the love for his Summit County friends, his enjoyment of ‘Caddy Shack,' elk steaks and, of course, Wild Turkey 101. Here's to Don, a great friend,” Claudia writes.
Don worked at the Climax Molybdenum Mine for 23 years; 20 years ago he retired to Rockaway, Ore., to enjoy boating and fishing.
