Cheers and Jeers: Hurray for summer

Cheers:

To summer finally arriving up here in the High Country. It has been a long time coming, but the warm temperatures are certainly welcomed by all who endured the chilly winter and soggy spring.

Cheers:

To the success of the Frisco BBQ Challenge. The weather held out just long enough for locals and visitors alike to have a couple of delicious days. Great food, a great crowd and great tunes equals a great time.

Cheers:

To the waste warriors deployed by the High Country Conservation Center, Mountain Mentors, Summit County Recycling and the Town of Frisco over the weekend to drastically reduce the amount of trash sent to the landfill from the barbecue.

Jeers:

To the bothersome bollards recently installed by Denver Water on the recpath along the Dillon Dam. Just the latest not-so-effective terrorist precautions taken by the organization. Let's hope they don't cause any accidents on the popular Summit bike trail.

Cheers:

To the stimulus money given out to CDOT to work on both Highway 9 and Interstate 70. Both roads were in desperate need of improvements. The slower speed limits may be a bit of a drag, but the crews only have so long to work before the white stuff starts flying again.
