SUMMIT COUNTY — An increase in vehicle break-ins at local residences has Summit County Sheriff's Office advising people to lock their vehicles at night and remove valuable items.
There have recently been five break-ins on Boreas Pass, four in Summit Cove and two in Dillon Valley, said sheriff's office public information officer Paulette Horr.
She said the break-ins mostly occur in the middle of the night, and that there are no suspects and no arrests related to the recent incidents.
“Almost all of the vehicles that have been broken into have been unlocked,” according to an SCSO press release.
The items stolen include car stereos, wallets, credit cards, GPS (devices), backpacks, iPods, skateboards and tools, according to the press release.
The sheriff's office recommends that if folks leave anything in their vehicles, such items should be locked in the trunk.
