Breck announces Fourth of July transit route changes

On Saturday, July 4, 2009, the Breckenridge Free Ride Transit System will temporarily alter bus routes to accommodate the July 4th activities. Main Street will be closed for the Parade and other activities between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. This will require the Free Ride to alter the routing for the Orange, Purple, and Black routes during the day. No other routes will be affected during the day. There will be an evening change to the schedule for the entire Transit system.

BLACK ROUTE

The Black route will not service the Town Hall or the French and Wellington stops from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The route will use Park Avenue to Ski Hill and continue on its regular route but will return to Breck Station via Lincoln and Park Ave. From 10:45 a.m. until the 4:45 p.m. loop the Black route will use Ridge Street to Jefferson instead of Main Street and then will continue the normal route.

PURPLE ROUTE

The Purple route will not serve the Town Hall stop between 10:00 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. The route will use North French Street to return to the transit station. Normal service will resume starting at 1:00 p.m. for the Purple route.

ORANGE ROUTE

Between the hours of 9:45 a.m. and 4:45 pm. the Orange route will not service the Main Street stops. The Orange Route will stop at City Market, go south on Park to Ski and Racket and the Ice Rink, and continue down French Street to return to City Market and then service 300 N. Main on its return to Breckenridge Station.

All bus stops not being serviced will be signed appropriately. During the evening, the Free Ride Transit System will close Breckenridge Station to the public at 9:15 p.m. and the buses will halt service. Fireworks are scheduled to be launched from the Gondola North parking lot. The area around the fireworks operations will be secured for safety reasons.

FREE RIDE TRANSIT

Park Avenue, French Street, and Watson Street will be closed at 9:15 p.m.

The firework display is scheduled for 9:35 p.m. The Free Ride Transit system will not be operating between 9:15 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Buses will resume service from Breckenridge Station starting at 10:15 p.m. following the conclusion of the fireworks display and continue service until the normal scheduled time.
