Colo. man reportedly dies in Calif. plane crash

TEHACHAPI, Calif. — One of two people killed in a small plane crash in southern California is reportedly a fire official from Colorado.

Authorities in California say the plane hit a field on Saturday and skidded onto a road after flying over a Fourth of July parade. The plane burst into flames, sparking a large grass fire that grew to about 2.5 acres.

The chief of Colorado's Inter-Canyon Fire/Rescue District released a statement to The Denver Post saying that one of those killed was district board president Robert Chamberlain. Dave MacBean said Chamberlain, who lived in Morrison, played an important role in improving the district's services and equipment.
